Aṣṭāṅga Mysore
About The Aṣṭāṅga Mysore Self-Practice
.The self-practice method (also called Mysore style) is the traditional way to learn the practice of Ashtanga yoga. It allows you to unfold through the Ashtanga serie, at your rhythm. This is the opportunity to gain independence and confidence in your practice, tailored to your needs and your body.
Beyond the postures and movements that you will learn and hone, the Ashtanga is offering so much more than a “strength and bodywork”. The Ashtanga Primary Serie, called Yoga Therapy (Yoga Chikitsa) is a set sequence that has been built to heal ourselves; not only physically, but above all, mentally and emotionnally. This is an opportunity to tune in with yourself, and create a space to breath and “be with” whatever you need to face or to release. Your Ashtanga practice becomes a lifestyle, enabling you to build courage, endurance and resilience – always with heart, with softness and with kindness.

The Experience
In a Mysore room, each practitioner is journeying through the same sequence at his.er own pace, while being fully supported by the collective energy and the kind guidance of the teacher creating a safe space for all. Practicing Ashtanga in a Mysore setting is like having a private class with your teacher while moving through your sequence along with other practitioners. It’s a place of self-discovery through self-practice, giving yourself a chance, each time you show up on your mat, to create a practice on your terms, based on the wonderful teaching of the Ashtanga Vinyasa System.
What You Can Expect
You will be learning the sequence of the Ashtanga Primary Serie (with the help and support of your teacher), and you’ll be guided to build a practice that goes beyond Asanas (physical postures). Following our Tristhana, we will develop a practice based on our 3 points of attention: body activation, depth of breath, and focus of the mind. Building a solid multi-dimensional practice, we are finding lightness from a place of groundedness. You will leave the room feeling centered and every time a bit more established into a lifelong practice.
